Why Astami

We are Astami and Astami is sacred power. Astami is the 8th day of the lunar cycle and is considered one of the most venerated days in a calendar month of India. Typically, there are two astamis, one in each of the lunar phases during a lunar month. For the practice of Hindu religious rituals, the day of Astami is considered highly auspicious and is inherent with a special sacred power. It was on an Astami that Lord Krishna was born. It was on this day that the great mother Goddess Durga was given the various powers and weaponry by the pantheon of gods. Armed with that power the Goddess waged a terrible battle which ended with her annihilation of the Mahishashura, the Buffalo headed Demon King, and an Anti-God. Further on a lower plane, the compass has four cardinal points and four Sub Cardinal points. It is therefore the Ashta or 8th point which completes the circle. The puja commonly performed on the day of Astami is considered one of the most important in the ritual calendar of Hindu Worship.

For time immemorial, the Hindu Sages and spiritual masters have accorded this 8th day a special place in rituals and practice of Hinduism. We have therefore created this unique online platform to ensure the easy availability of utility items required for those that believe in the purity of practice. In times gone by it was relatively easy to obtain daily ritualistic items of worship in stores nearby. With the lapse of time these stores reduced and were primarily confined to the daily market of a neighbourhood locality. With further passage of time, the supply of many these ritual items started to falter for lack of availability, rising cost, dearth of labour, transportation bottlenecks, and so on. In such a situation spurious and fake product started being sold and people without knowledge bought those in good faith. So, purity of products used during all religious rituals is a must thereby to ensure perfect results for practitioners.
